The ideal length and height when we build a newsletter

First of all, we need to make it clear that email is not a website. Certainly there are many similarities in their construction, but the technical limitations of the email, such as static, navigational failure and general interactivity, are important factors that must be taken into account when creating a newsletter.

An email can be beautifully designed, impressive, but basically it should be simple both in appearance and in use. But what does it mean to use? You will have noticed that the size of the email is usually narrow, that is, small in length with a large left and right of its contents and large in height due to the data that makes it spread downwards. It may seem strange to you, but there is scope for many emails to show this format.

In this article we will show you why the length and then the height affect the success of an email.

Too many surveys and studies have shown that most people read their emails through the preview preview rather than full screen . This only means that the amount of space remaining for an email to appear correctly is relatively small, either in height or in length. The smallest dimension in viewing preview has 550 px – 640 px and height 300 px – 500 px .

If you want your email to be read correctly from all email clients such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, MS Outlook, Thunderbird etc. without any problems, you should start by defining the length of your HTML email, no more from 640px.

If you specify a length of more than 640px, it is most likely that the scroll bars appear to navigate to the left and right of the email. This is quite irritating for someone trying to read your email, because if you take into account the height bars, then think that the recipient to read your email completely should move first from left to right (in order to read the whole sentence) and then top-down to read the paragraph.

Note 1: If the length is longer than 640px, your email will NOT go to the spam folder. This is a very common question we accept, so we specify that the length does not affect junk mail filters at all.

Note 2: Several people read their emails from mobile phones. Mobile phone screens are located between 320px and 480px in vertical and/or horizontal layout. So if your newsletter length is around 640px, you can assume that even on mobile phones your email will have a satisfying picture.

Height is affected by the content of each email. The bigger and richer the email content, the higher the size of your email.

The average height of the preview preview varies from 300px to 500px. This does not mean that your height should be in these dimensions, but that you should pass your key message to the beginning of email because the preview view has a small reading margin.
